The 1st SESI/CULTNE Banjo Players’ Gathering is a celebration of high-quality Rio de Janeiro popular culture, held on November 17, 2014, at the Firjan SESI Centro Theater as part of the SESI Cultural project. A tribute to Almir Guineto, the King of the Banjo.
The gathering of Rio’s top banjo players was an unforgettable concert. This unprecedented show took place at the SESI – Centro RJ and culminated with Rio’s most talented banjo players—Marcio Vanderlei, Fred Camacho, João Martins, Dayse do Banjo, and Jorgynho Chinna—who formed a samba circle with guests Andreía Caffé, Pedrinho da Flor, Toninho Geraes, and Marcelinho Moreira, paying tribute to Almir Guineto, the man who introduced the banjo to the world of samba.
