A revival of "Shaft Nights" at IMS Paulista, recreating the atmosphere of the 1970s soul dance parties that Dom Filó hosted at the Renascença Clube in Rio de Janeiro
Inspired by the aesthetic and sound of Gordon Parks’ film *Shaft’s Ball*, this event runs concurrently with the exhibition and film series *Gordon Parks: I Am America* at the IMS. These parties, which gave rise to the Black Rio Movement, feature the music of James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Aretha Franklin, and Barry White, among others
