In this issue, we commemorate the 175th anniversary of the law that marked the official end of the transatlantic slave trade to Brazil, yet kept the system of exploitation of the Black population alive. We also discuss the growth of Afro-tourism, with the creation of the Management Committee for the Black Routes Program, a public policy that recognizes Black territories, histories, and memories in the country. And we highlight the release of the film *Malês*, which brings to the screen the largest urban revolt by enslaved people in Brazilian history, which took place in Salvador in 1835.
