A classic of Brazilian literature, the book *Um Defeito de Cor* by Ana Maria Gonçalves, published in 2006 by Record and later adapted into a theme for the Portela samba school.
The samba school told the story of Kehinde, a Black woman who, at the age of eight, was kidnapped in the Kingdom of Dahomey—now Benin—and brought to be enslaved on Itaparica Island in Bahia.
