Silvio Almeida, Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, signed the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Executive Branch, the Federal Public Defender’s Office, and the Museum of the Republic.
The initiative will enable research into police investigations regarding the seizure of Afro-Brazilian religious artifacts from Candomblé and Umbanda terreiros in Rio between 1890 and 1946. This research will enable the expansion of the “Nosso Sagrado” collection, comprising 519 objects, which has been on display since 2020 at the Museum of the Republic and is listed by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan).
