About
A native of Brasília, Noemia Colonna is a journalist with a master’s degree in Media and Film from the University of Copenhagen, but she considers herself first and foremost a communicator. In journalism, she has worked primarily in television, having spent time in the newsrooms and studios of TV Justiça, SBT Brasília, TV Brasília, and TV Banco do Brasil.
In digital media, she worked as a freelancer for BBC News Brasil, distinguishing herself with a series of reports on the lives of Black people among the country’s wealthiest 1%.
She also served as editor for several websites within the federal government and the Judiciary, producing content on diversity and human rights.
As a journalist covering the judiciary, she reported on the inaugurations of several presidents of the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Labor Court, in addition to producing major reports such as the Bicentennial of Justice in Brazil, and covering important legal decisions in the labor sector that had nationwide repercussions.
Versatile, she moved away from hard news and shifted to content creation, producing, hosting, and directing documentaries and talk shows on legal topics, with music, cinema, and the world of work as her backdrop. She takes pride in having interviewed major figures in Brazilian black music such as Dona Ivone Lara, Délcio Carvalho, Teresa Cristina, Sandra de Sá, Naná Vasconcelos, Mart’nália, Mombaça, and many others.
She also worked at an advertising agency as a social media analyst and planner. In that role, she served as executive planner for the international BeBrasil campaign for Apex Brasil, the federal government’s agency for export support and promotion, launched during the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
In the academic world, she taught journalism and advertising.
Currently, Noemia divides her time between Berlin and Rio de Janeiro, traveling the world while working in the German music and technology industry, as well as keeping an eye out for stories of Black women who, like her, are fighters and create their own paths to success.
These stories are being collected and will eventually be told on the podcast she is producing, Criadora de Casos.
