About
At 26 years old, Nil Mendonça has been part of the cultural scene for over 10 years. Having begun her career as an actress, Nil has performed in several productions with the Grupo Código theater company. Her most notable productions include: *Yaperi_Aquilo Que Flutua* (2017), a production created through the Territórios Culturais RJ / Favela Criativa program; Trilhos (2019), sponsored by SESI Firjan through the Novos Talentos da Dramaturgia call for proposals; the show was part of the program for the Baixada em Foco event at SESC Nova Iguaçu and various festivals in the region, such as Encontrarte and Mostra Baixada Em Cena; Até (A)onde Vão Suas Raízes? (2021), a production sponsored by SESC through the Primeiros Olhares call for proposals, a show that engages children in a conversation about their ancestry.
As a producer, Nil has led several projects with public and private sponsorship.
Through Grupo Código, Nil produced the show ‘Muros’ with sponsorship from Funarj, and has worked on productions with Oi Futuro, SESC, SECEC, Ekloos, BrasilFoundation, among other institutions.
With the production company Emú, Nil produced the show “Mercedes” in Campinas (SP) and staged a run at SESC Copacabana (RJ) as part of the Mercedes Baptista residency in 2021. Nil has also produced in partnership with the Rubens Barbot company, Confraria do Impossível, 7 Produções, and KBMK Produções.
A graduate in Literature from UNESA, she was also responsible for teaching a course on developing cultural projects for youth in the periphery, with an emphasis on Japeri.
Nil is a cultural producer and host at CULTNE, an institution that holds the largest digital Black collection in Latin America
