About
Manuela Veloso is an early childhood and elementary school teacher who graduated from CENP; she is currently studying marketing at UNIFAA and works in the fields of communications, graphic design, and audiovisual editing!Manuela has previously worked as a designer and communications and social media coordinator for the State Union of Education Professionals (SEPE), the Círculo Laranja Association, and the MNU South Fluminense chapter, as well as on political and union campaigns. She is a social activist and for years worked at Associação Rede, which assists vulnerable children and adolescents in communities in Barra do Piraí. Today she is a designer and communications and social media coordinator at Casa Favela, which works in the communities of Alto da Boa Vista, Rio de Janeiro.
Immersed in the cultural world since childhood, Manuela took community theater classes at CESPF and made her debut in the play “O Sonho de Ametista,” produced and directed by Alessandro Uelson.
In the audiovisual field, she has completed workshops in Directing, Production, Screenwriting, and Assistant Directing. She co-directed with Vik Birkbeck and Alanna Sousa the 2021 experimental short film “Pandilema - O Dilema Da Desigualdade Pandêmica” and, also in partnership with Vik Birkbeck, edited the documentary “Do Luto À Luta - Jacarezinho Reage” (2021).
She recently served as Second Assistant Director on the short film “Último Domingo” (2022), directed by Renan Barbosa Brandão and Joana Claude and produced by Baraúna Filmes. The film, which premiered in the second half of 2022, has been screened at various festivals around the world and has won awards for best screenplay, directing, cinematography, and art direction.
